Rotting Porch

Replaced with New Deck

Magic Moulding was developed for this type of project. Itís designed to be reshaped on the fly, using simple tools that are commonly found in most homes or toolboxes. Donít be fooled by its fun name, because as you can see, it does very serious work.†††

Options were limited, because the tub is otherwise perfect. No tile flange is the only problem, and replacing the tub would be over-kill.

Iíll show you a simple and inexpensive way to create the missing tub / tile flange using Magic Moulding and a waterproof adhesive.
Universal Magic Moulding is thin enough to cure the problem and be installed without affecting the overall dimensions.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how much you pay a contractor to renovate your bathroom. If they don't get the basics right, you are the one faced with a lifetime of disappointment. This bathroom was installed without levelling the tub and now extra care has to be taken whenever its used. This is the most common mistake made installing a tub, so we've changed the angle of our Shower Splash Guard from 90 degrees to an overlapping design to allow for these mistakes.

Bathtub Installed Wrong

This Old 1920s House needs lots of TLC. It was the least expensive house, in the most expensive neighbourhood of West Vancouver, and only two blocks from the beach, with a great ocean view.

After about 90 years, the front porch is falling apart and has been replaced with a new deck, but the house is sound.

The most troubling problem in the house, is in the bathroom, where water has damaged the wall studs, flooring, and floor joists, mostly at the shower end of the bathtub. This original cast iron ceramic tub has no tub / tile flange or lip at its edges to stop the water from the escaping behind the cement boards, as the caulking aged and cracked over time, water escaped the tub and caused severe damage.
